A virtual result is not a substitute for a physical coin where fairness must be independently observed.

What a fair run looks like

Flip 100 coins and you will rarely see exactly 50 heads. About 95% of the time the count lands between 40 and 60, and streaks are normal: in 100 flips a run of six or more identical results is more likely than not. A long streak is not a sign that the other side is due; each flip is independent of the last one.

Using a flip to decide

A coin settles a choice between two options only. For three or more, do not chain flips unevenly; put the options in the random list picker instead, which gives each an equal chance. Agree before flipping which side means what.

Studies of real coin tosses have found a slight tendency to land on the side that started face up. A virtual flip has no starting side, which suits disputes where neither party trusts the other's thumb.

How to use it

  1. Choose the options or enter one item per line.
  2. Generate a fresh result locally.
