Chore Chart Maker (Printable)
Make a printable chore chart, routine chart, or reward chart for children: tasks down the side, days across the top, tick boxes or stars, and a chart for each child.
Chore Chart Maker (Printable): The chart is a grid with one row per task and one column per day, named in your language, starting on Monday or Sunday. Each name you enter gets its own chart on its own page, so siblings can have one each. Tick boxes suit routines, and stars to colour in suit reward charts. Up to 15 tasks fit on a page. Making a chart stick
Put the chart where the tasks happen, such as on the fridge or the bedroom door, and go through it together at the same time each day. Short, concrete tasks such as “put shoes on the rack” are easier for children than vague ones like “be tidy”.
For a monthly view of activities, print a calendar, and for practice sheets, make a maths worksheet.
Pictures for younger children
Children who cannot read yet can draw a small picture next to each task before the chart goes up, which also helps them feel it is their chart.
How to use it
- Pick a template: weekly chores, morning routine, bedtime routine, or reward chart.
- Edit the title and tasks, add each child's name, and choose boxes or stars.
- Add a reward if you like, then print.

Frequently asked questions
What chores suit which age?
Children of 2 to 3 can put toys away and help feed a pet; 4 to 5 can make their bed with help, set the table, and match socks; 6 to 8 can tidy their room, put laundry away, and help with dishes; older children can vacuum, cook simple meals, and take out the rubbish.
How many tasks should a chart have?
Three to five for young children and up to eight for older ones. A short chart that gets finished works better than a long one that does not.
Do reward charts work?
They tend to work best for building a specific new habit, with a small, prompt reward and praise for each tick. Phase the chart out once the habit sticks.
