Portraits & cut-outs / Blur

Blur Background: Portrait-Mode Blur for Any Photo

Blur the background behind a person automatically, or click to select any object, and keep the subject sharp, like a phone's portrait mode: adjust the blur strength and the edge, then save the photo as JPG or PNG at full resolution.

Blur Background: Portrait-Mode Blur for Any Photo: A segmentation model running in your browser marks which pixels belong to the subject; the rest of the photo is blurred by the amount you choose and blended back behind the sharp subject with a soft edge. The first run downloads the model once, about 12 MB for people. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Strength

A light blur, around 10 to 25 px on a typical phone photo, looks like a real lens; very strong blur can look cut out.

Transparent background

To remove the background completely, use the background remover.

How to use it

  1. Choose a photo.
  2. Let the person be found automatically, or click the object to keep.
  3. Adjust the blur and save the photo.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work on objects as well as people?

Yes: switch to click mode and click the object you want to keep; add or remove areas with more clicks.

Why are hair or edges a bit soft?

Fine detail is hard for any model; raise the edge softness for a natural look, or lower it for a crisper cut.

Will the photo lose quality?

No: the saved file is the full size of the original, not the preview.
