Upload a local floor-plan image and position eight compass sectors around a centre, with Later Heaven trigrams and traditional association labels.
Bagua Map: Compass Overlay for a Floor Plan: Draws eight 45-degree sectors and a centre on a local canvas. North is rotated by the difference between the outward arrow on the image and the compass facing bearing. Pointer and keyboard controls adjust position and radius. Preview and PNG use the same canvas, limited to 2048 pixels on the longer side. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

A cultural reference to traditional feng shui assignments, without predictions or personal advice.
The compass overlay uses the Later Heaven trigrams. The life-area words are conventional feng shui associations shown in modern reference maps; they do not describe outcomes for the rooms.

Match the arrow to the direction you face when looking out through the front door on this image. For a door at the bottom with its outward direction down, use 180°. No magnetic correction is applied here; keep the same north reference as your reading.

Trigrams, directions and elements
The Later Heaven arrangement assigns Kan to north, Gen to northeast, Zhen to east, Xun to southeast, Li to south, Kun to southwest, Dui to west and Qian to northwest. Association labels
Career, knowledge, family, wealth, fame, relationships, children/creativity and helpful people are conventional life-area associations, presented as the tradition's assignments. Source: Kathryn Weber's Red Lotus Letter Bagua, chart on page 7: https://redlotusletter.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Red-Lotus-Letter-FREE-Bagua.pdf . These modern reference labels are not claims that each life-area word originates in a classical text.
Orientation and geometry
The compass method aligns the appropriate compass direction with the outward-facing side of the plan: https://redlotusletter.com/the-eight-directions-and-corners-of-feng-shui-luck/ . The arrow's angle on the image minus the house's compass bearing gives the overlay rotation. Eight 45-degree sectors surround a centre disc of 19 percent of the radius. The centre size is a drawing choice; parts beyond the image are cropped in the preview and export.
How to use it
- Choose a PNG, JPEG or WebP floor plan and enter its facing bearing, or use a link from the Feng Shui Compass.
- Align the outward-facing arrow with the front door's outward direction on the image, then drag and resize the overlay.
- Read the traditional association labels and export the plan with the overlay as a PNG.

Frequently asked questions
Which Bagua arrangement is used?
The compass-direction overlay uses the Later Heaven trigram arrangement. The life-area words are conventional associations in modern feng shui reference maps; this tool makes no predictions or personal recommendations.
How is the plan orientation set?
Enter the real facing bearing and set the outward-facing arrow on the image. Image-up is 0 degrees, right is 90, down is 180 and left is 270. A door at the bottom that faces outward down the image uses 180 degrees for the arrow.
Is the image sent anywhere?
No. PNG, JPEG and WebP files are handled locally, up to 25 MB and 40 megapixels. Export uses the preview's image dimensions, at most 2048 pixels on the longer side.
Is there a door-aligned Western grid?
No. This version includes only the compass-direction overlay. Its centre disc and adjustable circular outline are drawing conventions, not a diagnosis of a building.
