Custom thumbnail size for your own video
YouTube Help recommends 3840 × 2160 pixels at 16:9, with a minimum width of 640 pixels, for a custom video thumbnail. It lists image formats such as JPG and PNG. Video thumbnail uploads must be under 2 MB on mobile or under 50 MB on desktop. These are upload recommendations and limits, not the sizes this downloader creates. Are the download sizes the same as custom thumbnail requirements?
No. This tool retrieves the published images from a video; it does not create or resize a custom thumbnail. Choose the largest available image, then check its actual dimensions before reusing it.
Why is the maximum-resolution thumbnail missing?
Some videos have no maximum-resolution image. TOEA hides that option when YouTube returns a small placeholder; try one of the other available sizes.
