Writing Goal Tracker
Set a word count goal and a deadline, log what you write each day, and see how many words a day you need to finish, with a progress chart. Ready for 50,000 words in November.
Writing Goal Tracker: The tracker adds up the words you log between the start and the deadline, divides what is left by the days remaining, counting today until you log it, and compares your total with an even plan. Your pace so far, the words a day since you started, gives the date you would reach the goal. The chart shows your running total against the plan. Keeping a daily habit
Most people who finish a long draft write at the same time each day, and stop in the middle of a sentence so the next session starts easily. Short timed sprints help: write for 25 minutes with the pomodoro timer, then log the words.
To count the words in a piece of text, paste it into the word counter.
Falling behind
A missed day is not a lost goal: its words are spread over the days left, which rarely adds more than a few hundred a day early on. Weekends with more time can catch up a week's shortfall.

Frequently asked questions
How many words a day is 50,000 in November?
1,667 words a day for 30 days. Missing a day spreads its words over the days left, so the tracker recalculates the daily target every day.
Can I enter my total word count instead?
Yes: choose Total word count so far, and the tracker works out the words written that day from the total on the days before.
Does it work for other goals?
Any goal with a word count and a deadline works: a thesis chapter, a script, or a book over several months.
