Venus Sign Calculator (with Lilith and North Node)
Find planet signs, mean Black Moon Lilith and the mean North and South Nodes, with degrees, sign changes and neutral traditional themes.
Venus Sign Calculator (with Lilith and North Node): Find the tropical signs of Venus, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, mean Black Moon Lilith and the mean North Node, with the South Node opposite. A date alone uses local noon in your browser’s time zone; choosing a city uses its historical time zone. On a sign-change day, see both possible signs and the local ingress time, then add your birth time to resolve the sign. Compare planets and lunar points, explore short traditional themes and save a card that shows only your planet and sign. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Enter your birth date. Time and city are optional. Without a time, we check local noon and any sign changes that day.
How planetary signs are computed
Mean Black Moon Lilith uses the mean lunar perigee polynomial plus 180 degrees, projected from the mean lunar orbit onto the ecliptic. The mean North Node uses the lunar node polynomial, with nutation for the apparent tropical frame; the South Node is opposite. Meeus, Astronomical Algorithms, chapter 47 (https://www.willbell.com/math/mc1.htm), gives the mean lunar elements. Offline Swiss Ephemeris comparisons from 1950 through 2100 meet 0.05 degrees for mean Lilith and 0.02 degrees for the mean node in the recorded checks.
The zodiac here is tropical: twelve equal 30-degree signs starting at the March equinox, rather than the unequal astronomical constellations. Positions are geocentric apparent ecliptic longitudes, as seen from Earth, including light-travel time and aberration. Degrees run from 0 up to 30 within each sign.
Calculations use the MIT-licensed Astronomy Engine (https://github.com/cosinekitty/astronomy). Longitudes have been checked against Swiss Ephemeris reference instants to within 0.02 degrees; its documentation (https://www.astro.com/swisseph/swephprg.htm) describes the comparison coordinate system. Swiss Ephemeris is a reference only and is not distributed with this page.
A date-only result uses local noon. Sign changes are found by narrowing the instant at which the longitude crosses a 30-degree boundary; local clock times use the chosen historical time zone, including daylight saving. Ingress times are computed estimates, shown to the second; model differences and uncertain birth records can matter near a boundary. The retrograde mark means apparent backward motion as Earth and the planet move around the Sun.
How often each planet changes sign
These are typical tropical geocentric stays, not a timetable. Speeds vary, and retrograde loops can lengthen a stay or carry a planet back into the previous sign. Use the calculation for your particular date.
| Planet | Typical time in one sign |
|---|---|
| Venus | About 3–5 weeks; sometimes several months around a retrograde loop |
| Mars | About 6–8 weeks; sometimes several months around a retrograde loop |
| Mercury | About 2–4 weeks; sometimes around 2 months with a retrograde loop |
| Jupiter | About 1 year, with returns across boundaries during retrograde loops |
| Saturn | About 2–3 years, with returns across boundaries during retrograde loops |
These rounded durations describe apparent travel through equal zodiac sectors. The Astronomy Engine project (https://github.com/cosinekitty/astronomy) provides the position calculations; the Swiss Ephemeris documentation (https://www.astro.com/swisseph/swephprg.htm) explains apparent positions and motion. Actual ingress intervals vary.
Traditional themes and their limits
The short sign descriptions are original summaries of traditional associations: Venus with affection, taste and values; Mars with drive and action; Mercury with communication; Jupiter with growth; Saturn with responsibility and limits. They describe a cultural framework and do not predict events or establish personality facts.
How to use it

Frequently asked questions
What is a Venus sign?
Your Venus sign is the tropical zodiac sign occupied by Venus at your birth. Astrology traditionally associates Venus with love style, taste and values. These associations are cultural interpretations, not measured personality traits.
Do I need my birth time?
You need it to resolve your sign only when the selected planet changes signs that day. With a date alone, the calculator checks local noon and shows any sign change with its local time. A birth time makes the degree more precise too. Choose your birth city or its time zone if it differs from your browser’s zone.
How do I find my Mars sign?
Select the Mars tab and calculate with the same birth details. Traditional astrology connects Mars with drive and how one acts. Mercury, Jupiter and Saturn have tabs on this same page too.
Why is my Venus sign different from my Sun sign?
The Sun and Venus usually occupy different positions along the zodiac. Venus stays within roughly 48 degrees of the Sun as seen from Earth, so its sign can be your Sun sign or a nearby sign. This calculator uses the tropical zodiac throughout.
Which Lilith and lunar nodes are used?
Choose the Lilith tab for mean Black Moon Lilith, the mean lunar apogee projected onto the ecliptic. It is not asteroid Lilith or the osculating true apogee. The North Node tab uses the mean ascending lunar node and shows the South Node exactly opposite. These averaged orbital points use the tropical zodiac. Their neutral traditional themes concern autonomy, direction and familiar patterns, without predictions.
Are my birth details private?
The calculation runs in your browser. Your birth date, time and city are not uploaded or placed in the URL. The downloaded share card contains only your planet and sign, plus the toea.com address.
