Timeline Maker: Turn Dates and Events into a Timeline Picture

Make a timeline from a list of events: write one per line with a date, a title, and an optional note, choose even spacing or a scale by date, pick a colour, and download the picture for a school project, a presentation, or a report.

Timeline Maker: Turn Dates and Events into a Timeline Picture: Events are sorted by date and placed along a line, with labels alternating above and below. To scale, the distance between events matches the time between them: 1957, 1969, and 2019 sit at 0%, 19%, and 100% of the line. Evenly spaced suits events that bunch together. Write one event per line as date | title | note; the note is optional. Dates can be a year, a year and month, or a full date, and events are sorted by date. Labels alternate above and below the line; with many events close together, use even spacing.

Planning

Choose a clear start and end, keep each title to a few words, and put the detail in the note.
