TI-36X Pro Alternative: Free Online Scientific Calculator

A free online scientific calculator with the TI-36X Pro key layout, menus and syntax, for students who use one.

TI-36X Pro Alternative: Free Online Scientific Calculator: How to do fractions on a TI-36X Pro style keypad: enter 1, n/d (the fraction key on the Pro), 2, +, 1, n/d, 3, enter. The answer is 5/6. Press the answer-toggle key to see 0.833333333. A second press returns to the exact fraction. For a mixed number such as 2 1/2, use the second function U n/d between the whole-number and numerator parts. The linear expression remains editable beside the textbook preview. How to do statistics on a TI-36X Pro style keypad: press data to open L1–L3. Enter the observations in L1, separated with spaces, then choose Calculate 1-Var statistics. Enter optional frequencies in the second field. Press enter to show the mean, population deviation and sample deviation. For separate statistics or regression, press 2nd then data and choose a menu item. Keep paired X and Y lists in the same order. How to do nCr on a TI-36X Pro style keypad: enter 5, choose nCr, enter 2, then enter. On the MultiView, nCr is item 2 in prb. On the Pro, repeated presses of the probability key cycle !, nCr and nPr. The result is 10. For trigonometry in degrees, press mode, choose DEG, return with 2nd mode, and enter sin, 30, enter. The exact result is 1/2. Always check the angle mode before comparing a homework answer. The arrow pad selects menu items and recalls history; enter selects the highlighted item. Use sto→ followed by a variable key to save a value, and 2nd sto→ to recall it. How to solve systems and polynomials on a TI-36X Pro style keypad: press 2nd tan for sys-solv. Enter one coefficient row per equation, with the right-hand side last. For 2x+y=5 and x−y=1, enter rows 2 1 5 and 1 -1 1; enter shows x=2 and y=1. Three-row systems use four entries per row. Press 2nd cos for poly-solv and enter coefficients in descending powers. For x²−5x+6, use 1 -5 6. For a cubic, enter four coefficients. Numeric roots can have small rounding error. How to do calculus on a TI-36X Pro style keypad: 2nd ln opens d/dx. Enter x^3 and point 2 for 12. The second function of the exponential key opens the integral panel: x^2, lower bound 0 and upper bound 1 gives 1/3. These use numerical methods; discontinuities and poorly behaved functions may fail. For a matrix determinant, press 2nd math and enter rows 1 2 and 3 4 for −2. For base-n arithmetic, press 2nd 9, choose HEX and use the second A–F legends for hex digits. FF AND 0F gives F. The mode panel also selects DEC, BIN and OCT. What is not supported: this calculator does not run device software. The editors use plain expression and coefficient fields rather than every device prompt. The full device conversion menu and the complete device error-position flow are not available. Auto tables show seven rows at a time; Ask for x evaluates a chosen input. Matrix operations use separate row fields. List formulas can reference a directly entered list with =L1*2; chained formulas are not supported. Some advanced menu entries use simpler expression fields. Use the related specialist tools when you need a broader working panel. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Units and constants

NIST Special Publication 811 (https://www.nist.gov/pml/special-publication-811) defines the inch as exactly 0.0254 metre. This page offers inches to centimetres only.

CODATA 2018 recommended values (https://physics.nist.gov/cuu/Constants/) supply physical constants, including the exact SI defining values. Uncertain constants remain approximate.

Statistics

NIST/SEMATECH e-Handbook of Statistical Methods (https://www.itl.nist.gov/div898/handbook/) explains descriptive statistics, regression and probability distributions. Interpret results using a model appropriate for the data.

How to use it

  1. Check the angle mode, then enter an expression using the keypad.
  2. Use 2nd for the small key legend, or repeat a multi-tap key to cycle its functions.
  3. Press enter and use the answer toggle for an exact or decimal result.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a TI-36X Pro?

TI-30XS MultiView, TI-36X Pro and MultiView are trademarks of Texas Instruments Incorporated. TOEA is not affiliated with or endorsed by Texas Instruments. This is an independent calculator with a compatible key layout; it does not run TI software.

Can I use it on an exam?

No. Online calculators are not allowed in proctored exams. Check the calculator rules for your exam and use an approved device or the exam's built-in calculator.

Does it match my calculator’s results?

Exact fractions and common radicals are preserved. Numerical methods and rounding can differ, and the working panels do not reproduce every device flow. Check the angle mode and decimal setting when comparing results.

Does my data leave the browser?

No. Calculations run locally, and this calculator saves its state in browser storage. Reset calculator clears the saved working state on this browser.
