Sitemap Generator (sitemap.xml)

Paste a list of page addresses to build a valid sitemap.xml, with optional last-modified dates, split into several files with an index when you have more than 50,000 pages.

Sitemap Generator (sitemap.xml): The generator follows the sitemaps.org protocol: it removes duplicates and #fragments, percent-encodes spaces and accented letters, escapes characters such as & for XML, and writes UTF-8. Lists over 50,000 addresses, the limit for one file, are split into sitemap-1.xml, sitemap-2.xml, and so on, with a sitemap index that points to them. The output validates against the official XML schemas. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Runs entirely in your browser

Google ignores change frequency and priority, and uses the last-modified date only when it is accurate, so leave them out unless you know you need them.

3 addresses

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<urlset xmlns="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9">
  <url>
    <loc>https://example.com/</loc>
  </url>
  <url>
    <loc>https://example.com/about</loc>
  </url>
  <url>
    <loc>https://example.com/blog/first-post</loc>
  </url>
</urlset>

Upload the file to your site's root, add a Sitemap: line to robots.txt, and submit it in Google Search Console.

Getting the list of addresses

Export page addresses from your CMS, crawl your site with a desktop crawler, or copy them from a spreadsheet. Use the exact canonical form of each address, with the same https and www choice everywhere, and check them with the canonical checker.

Pair the sitemap with a robots.txt file from the robots.txt generator, which can point crawlers to it.

Limits

One sitemap may list up to 50,000 addresses and be up to 50 MB uncompressed; a sitemap index may list up to 50,000 sitemaps. Sitemaps can be gzip-compressed to save bandwidth, but the limits apply to the uncompressed size.

How to use it

  1. Paste the full addresses of your pages, one per line.
  2. Choose whether to include a last-modified date, change frequency, or priority.
  3. Download the file, upload it to your site's root, and submit it in Search Console.

Privacy & limitations

The list is processed in your browser; no pages are fetched.

Frequently asked questions

Should I include priority and change frequency?

Google says it ignores both, and uses lastmod only when it is consistently accurate, so most sites can leave all three out. Bing and other engines may read them.

Which pages belong in a sitemap?

The canonical version of every page you want in search results: no redirects, error pages, or pages blocked by robots.txt or marked noindex.

How do search engines find my sitemap?

Submit it in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, and add a line such as Sitemap: https://example.com/sitemap.xml to robots.txt.
