Preparing the lettering…

SVG lettering is saved as outlines. PNG keeps a transparent background. The chequerboard is only a preview.

Parts of a rubber stamp

A hand stamp combines an ink-bearing rubber face with a supporting base and handle. Ingenium's collection record describes a wooden handle and base, rubber imprint and protective label on a stamp used for photographic materials. This tool draws the impression, not the physical handle or base. https://collection.ingenium.ca/en/item/1991.0635.001/

Print size and resolution

Pixel dimensions alone do not fix print size: pixels divided by pixels per inch give the printed width in inches. For example, a full 1024-pixel canvas is about 3.41 inches at 300 ppi; the stamp occupies less than the full canvas. Fine line art may need higher resolution, so use the outlined SVG where supported. Ohio University distinguishes 300 dpi continuous-tone images from 900–1200 dpi line art and explains how scaling changes effective resolution. https://www.ohio.edu/printing/page-design

  2. Choose a round, oval or rectangular shape, font, border, separators and ink colour.
  3. Adjust the wear and rotation, then save a transparent PNG or an outlined SVG.

Frequently asked questions

Will the bottom arc read upside down?

No. It reads from left to right along the lower arc, with upright letters at the centre. The top arc reads clockwise. Long text shrinks to fit the available arc; check readability in the preview.

Which fonts and characters can I use?

Choose Oswald for condensed lettering, Inter for a sans serif, or Noto Serif SC. Chinese characters in the Latin fonts use Noto Serif SC. These are bundled OFL fonts. Unsupported characters stop export rather than appearing as empty boxes.

Can I create a notary or official seal?

No. Don't use this to imitate official, company or government seals. Restricted phrases anywhere in the text trigger a warning and disable export. The starting designs are decorative or ordinary business stamps, with no official emblems or registration numbers.

What should I send to a stamp manufacturer?

The SVG contains outlined lettering and scales without pixelation. PNG is transparent at 1024 or 2048 pixels square, including the surrounding margin. These files show the readable impression; ask your maker about final size, minimum stroke width, file support and any mirroring needed for production. Switch off wear for a clean impression.
