Remove Audio from Video

Strip the soundtrack out of a video and download a silent copy, entirely in your browser.

Remove Audio from Video: TOEA re-records the picture with no audio track attached, producing a video file that carries no sound at all rather than one turned down to silence. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Remove the track or silence a section

This tool removes audio from the entire output: the new video has no audio track. Turning down playback volume leaves the soundtrack in the file. To mute a conversation for only a few seconds while preserving the rest, use an editor with an audio timeline; this tool has no time-range mute control.

Picture quality and output format

The picture is re-encoded at the High preset, not copied as an unchanged video stream. The result may be larger than the original, because removing sound does not control the video's bitrate. MP4 is used when the browser can record it, otherwise WebM.

Save the soundtrack separately with Extract Audio from Video before removing it if you need a copy. Keep the source file too, because the soundtrack cannot be recovered from the silent output.

How to use it

  1. Choose a video file.
  2. Remove the audio.
  3. Download the silent video.

Privacy & limitations

The video is read straight from your device and never uploaded. Everything — decoding, resizing, and encoding — happens in this browser tab, so large files are limited by your own memory rather than an upload queue. Encoding runs at playback speed because the browser records the video as it plays, so a two-minute clip takes about two minutes and the tab must stay in front. The audio is genuinely absent from the output, not merely silenced.

Frequently asked questions

Does this remove the audio track or just turn down the volume?

It creates a video with no audio track attached. Muting playback or setting the volume to zero leaves audio in a file; this output contains no soundtrack.

Can I mute only part of the video?

No. This removes sound from the whole clip. To silence a selected time range while keeping the rest of the soundtrack, use a video editor with audio timeline controls.

Is the video copied without re-encoding?

No. The picture is re-encoded at the High quality preset, so the result is not lossless and may be larger than the original. The download is MP4 where your browser can record it, otherwise WebM.
