Titles and descriptions search engines rewrite

Google uses your <title> and meta description as suggestions, not commands. It rewrites titles that are very long, stuffed with keywords, or identical across many pages, and often builds the snippet from page text that matches the search. The 60- and 160-character warnings here are rough guides for staying visible, since the real limit depends on pixel width. The keywords meta tag has no effect on Google's ranking; there is no need to add or maintain it.

The other warnings

A missing <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1"> makes phones render the page at desktop width and shrink it, leaving text tiny and links hard to tap. Several <h1> elements are not an error for search engines, but one clear main heading helps screen reader users find the start of the content. A missing canonical matters most on pages reachable at several URLs; the canonical checker compares it with the resolved address.

How to use it

  1. Paste a public page URL.
  2. Choose Inspect meta tags.
  3. Review the metadata fields, length counts, headings, and focused warnings.
