Lorem Ipsum Generator

Where the text comes from

Lorem ipsum is scrambled Latin taken from Cicero's De finibus bonorum et malorum, written in 45 BC, with words cut and altered so that it reads as nothing in particular. This generator repeats one standard paragraph, with later paragraphs opening on Praesent commodo, so every paragraph has the same length. Real copy is uneven, so also test a layout with the longest real headline, a one-line paragraph, and a long unbroken word or URL.

Keeping placeholder text out of launches

Placeholder text tends to survive in the places nobody reviews: image alt text, meta descriptions, error messages, and empty states. Search the source or a crawl of the site for lorem and ipsum before launch. If the site will be translated, leave room: German and French text commonly runs 20–30% longer than the English it replaces, and a layout that only just fits the placeholder will overflow.

How to use it

1. Choose a paragraph count.
2. Review the generated filler.
3. Copy or download it.
