DNS record deskSafe public URL check

Looks up public A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, NS, TXT, and CAA records.

Reading the records

A and AAAA give the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses; CNAME says a name is an alias for another name, and a name with a CNAME may have no other records, which is why the bare domain usually cannot be a CNAME. MX lists mail servers with a preference number, where lower is tried first. NS names the servers that answer for the domain.

TXT holds verification strings and email policies such as SPF (v=spf1 …). CAA lists which certificate authorities may issue certificates for the domain; if it exists and omits yours, renewals fail.

After changing a record

Resolvers cache an answer for the time-to-live it was published with, so an old record can persist that long after a change. Lower the TTL, to 300 seconds for example, a day before a planned move, make the change, and raise it again afterwards.

If this lookup shows the new value and your computer does not, your own resolver or operating system still has the old one cached. The website IP checker shows the addresses the site's hostname resolves to right now.

How to use it

  1. Enter a public hostname or website URL.
  2. Choose Look up DNS.
  3. Review the available record groups and their exact values.

Privacy & limitations

The hostname is queried through TOEA’s API and is not stored. Resolver caches, geography, propagation, split DNS, and record rotation can make answers differ elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions

Why are some record groups absent?

DNS types without an answer are omitted. Many hostnames intentionally publish only a few kinds of records.

Does this show DNS propagation worldwide?

No. It is a point-in-time lookup from the API’s configured resolver.
