Bookmark Maker: Print and Download PDF: Make a sheet of matching page markers for a reading group, classroom or personal book. Choose text, your own quotation, a circle pattern or a local image, then select four, five or six bookmarks across the sheet. An optional second page carries back text in the same positions as the fronts. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Bookmark dimensions for a four-strip sheet

Let W and H be sheet dimensions, m the selected margin and n the bookmark count. Strip width = (W − 2(m + 6))/n − 0.01 mm; height = the smaller of 180 mm and H − 2(m + 6). The additional 6 mm reserves room around the grid for cut marks; the small width allowance keeps the selected strips fitting across the page. With A4 at 210 × 297 mm, a 10 mm margin and four bookmarks: width = (210 − 32)/4 − 0.01 = 44.49 mm. Height = min(180, 297 − 32) = 180 mm. The preview produces four strips of 44.49 × 180 mm. Adding a back gives two pages, representing the two sides of the same four bookmarks.

Keeping a narrow reading marker legible

Use a short quotation and include the attribution in the quotation field if you want it printed. An image is fitted inside the strip, so a wide photograph can leave space above and below. The artwork should remain clear at bookmark width. After cutting, test the strip in the intended book and keep bulky decoration away from the binding.

ISO 216 (https://www.iso.org/standard/36631.html) gives the paper framework for A4. The W3C SVG length model (https://www.w3.org/TR/SVG2/coords.html) underlies the millimetre dimensions. Printing at 100% preserves those file dimensions; a plain-paper trial also checks your printer’s front-to-back placement.

How to use it

  1. Choose a design and enter short text, a quotation or a supported local image.
  2. Select four to six strips, set the paper and margins, and add back text if wanted.
  3. Print or download the PDF and check front-to-back alignment before cutting the bookmarks.

Frequently asked questions

Why does choosing six bookmarks make each one narrower?

The available sheet width is shared by the selected count. Six strips receive less width than four. Shorten your wording or choose fewer strips if the preview reports that the text cannot fit; the layout does not silently crop an overlong quotation.

Can I add a photograph and print a different back?

Choose Your image and use a local PNG or JPEG up to 500 KB. Enable Add a back side and enter Back text. The second page has text backs at matching positions; it does not automatically add a mirrored copy of the photograph.

How can I check duplex alignment without wasting card?

Print both pages on ordinary paper at actual size using long-edge flipping, or follow your printer’s manual reinsertion directions. Hold the sheet to the light and compare the outlines. Printer registration can shift the backs even when the file positions match.
