Argon2 Hash Generator: Generate and Verify PHC Strings
Generate argon2id, argon2i or argon2d hashes locally, using an OWASP or RFC preset or custom settings. Copy the PHC string, inspect the raw hash and elapsed time, or check whether a password matches an existing hash.
Argon2 Hash Generator: Generate and Verify PHC Strings: The browser derives an Argon2 hash from the password, salt and cost settings. Hash mode returns a PHC string containing the type, version, parameters, salt and derived bytes. Verify mode reads those settings from the PHC string and compares the derived bytes with the stored hash. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Keep passwords private. Large memory costs can make this tab unresponsive. Use the bcrypt generator for bcrypt hashes.
Parameters and storage
Memory is entered in KiB, passes set the iteration count, and lanes set the parallelism parameter. The PHC string stores these settings alongside the salt and hash. The OWASP preset is the initial selection; changing a field switches to custom settings.
Browser limits
Hashing uses memory and CPU on this device. Progress reflects the library's work, and elapsed time varies by device and settings. A cost below the memory guard can still exceed the memory available to the browser.
How to use it
- Choose hash or verify and enter a password.
- For hashing, choose the type, cost settings and salt. For verification, paste the PHC string.
- Run the operation and copy the hash or read the match result.
Privacy & limitations
Passwords, salts and hashes stay in this browser. The tool does not upload or save them to local storage.

Frequently asked questions
Why is the largest RFC preset refused?
It requests more memory than this tool allows. The browser guard refuses memory above 1048576 KiB (1 GiB), including during verification. Choose the low-memory preset or custom settings.
Can I choose my own salt?
Yes. Enter UTF-8 text or hexadecimal byte pairs, or generate a random 16-byte salt in the browser. The PHC string includes the salt.
Does a match recover the password?
No. Verification tests only the password you enter against the supplied PHC string.
