Add Weeks to Date

Move a date forward by a whole number of seven-day weeks.

Add Weeks to Date: Find the calendar date a whole number of weeks after an event or appointment. Each week advances exactly seven dates, so the result falls on the same weekday. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays remain part of the interval; this is useful for weekly schedules rather than working-day deadlines. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

ASSUMPTIONS / READ BEFORE USING
  1. Dates are calendar dates at UTC midnight; no local timezone or daylight-saving adjustment is applied.
  2. Results are planning utilities. Public holidays, locale-specific work rules, and company policies are not inferred.
  3. Weeks are exact seven-day calendar spans.

Seven-day arithmetic and a February example

Let S be the starting calendar date and W the number of weeks to add. The day offset is 7 × W, and result R = S + 7W calendar days. The start is the anchor at offset zero; it is not counted as the first day of a seven-day advance. This differs from listing every date touched by an inclusive range.

Enter S = 2024-02-22 and W = 2. The offset is 7 × 2 = 14 days: the first seven reach 29 February and the next seven reach 7 March. The result is 2024-03-07, with 2 weeks added. Both the anchor and the destination are Thursdays.

Weekly appointments across the calendar

February's extra day in a leap year is included automatically. The Gregorian leap-year background at the US Naval Observatory (https://aa.usno.navy.mil/faq/leap_years) explains why some February calendars have an additional date.

Use this calculation when the appointment repeats on a weekday after a specified number of weeks. Adding four weeks gives a 28-day interval, which need not reach the same day number in the following month. The result contains no appointment time or time zone, so it cannot measure the elapsed hours of a recurring local-time meeting across a clock change.

How to use it

  1. Select the event or appointment date.
  2. Enter how many whole weeks later you need the date.
  3. Calculate and use the returned date for the next stage of your schedule.

Frequently asked questions

Does a week mean five working days in this calculator?

A week means seven calendar days. Weekend dates are traversed normally, and the destination may be a weekend if the starting date is one.

Will the weekday stay the same after the move?

Yes. Whole multiples of seven preserve the weekday. Crossing a month boundary, New Year or a leap day changes the printed date but does not change that weekday relationship.

Can I enter half a week or a negative week count?

The weeks field accepts non-negative whole numbers only. Use a day offset for a shorter interval, or subtract weeks from date to move backwards.
