Add Border to Image — Local Browser Tool
Add a solid coloured border, extra padding and rounded outer corners, or fit your picture inside a square or portrait canvas.
Add Border to Image — Local Browser Tool: Choose a border width in original image pixels and a solid colour. Extra padding adds more space in the same colour. A target aspect ratio enlarges the canvas as needed while keeping the full picture, centred without cropping. Square 1:1 is useful for a consistent gallery; 4:5 is a portrait shape, 16:9 is landscape and 9:16 is vertical. Rounding applies to the outside corners of the finished canvas, leaving transparent pixels beyond the curve. It can clip the picture corners if there is too little border or padding. PNG output keeps those transparent corners. This tool adds pixels around the source rather than shrinking the source to fit an existing canvas. The preview and download dimensions include all added space. Use export scale to resize the finished result. A large border or a very wide target shape may exceed the limit of 8192 pixels per dimension or 40 million pixels; reduce the padding or border when that happens. Padding and aspect ratio
The full source image stays centred inside an expanded canvas. Aspect ratio compares width with height. The CSS sizing specification (https://www.w3.org/TR/css-sizing-4/) explains preferred aspect ratios; this tool adds real image pixels rather than changing only the page layout.
Local image export
PNG output keeps transparency and the image dimensions shown beside the download. Export scale changes the saved dimensions; preview controls remain in original image pixels. The HTML canvas specification (https://html.spec.whatwg.org/multipage/canvas.html) describes browser image rendering and export.

Frequently asked questions
Will a square border crop my photo?
The square option adds enough coloured space to fit the complete picture. It does not crop or stretch the source. A very large corner radius can cut into the picture, so check the preview.
What is the difference between border and padding?
Both add space in the selected colour. Border is the base inset; padding adds further breathing room. The target aspect ratio can add still more space to one pair of sides.
Why is the download a PNG?
PNG preserves transparent rounded corners. You can convert it to JPG afterwards, but JPG needs a solid background in place of transparency.
