Text to SVG: Font Outlines and Paths

Convert text to SVG paths with bundled Latin fonts or a local TTF, OTF or WOFF file. Adjust size, letter-spacing, line-height, alignment and colours, then download SVG or PNG.

Text to SVG: Font Outlines and Paths: Type your text, pick one of the bundled fonts or load your own TTF, OTF or WOFF file, and the letters are turned into SVG outlines, so the result looks the same everywhere without the font installed. Adjust size, letter-spacing, line-height, alignment, fill and stroke, then copy the SVG or download SVG or PNG. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Bundled Latin fonts use the SIL Open Font Licence. Uploaded fonts stay local; you are responsible for their licences. Kerning is enabled. Complex script shaping depends on the font and parser. PNG exports are limited to 4096 pixels on the longest side.

SVG paths

The SVG 2 path specification defines path commands and closed subpaths. https://www.w3.org/TR/SVG2/paths.html

Font parser

Fonts are read in your browser with opentype.js 2.0.0, an MIT-licensed open-source library. WOFF2 files are not supported; convert them to WOFF, TTF or OTF first. Some advanced font features, such as contextual alternates and certain kerning tables, are not applied, so spacing can differ slightly from a word processor. https://github.com/opentypejs/opentype.js

Bundled font sources

Unmodified Latin WOFF assets come from Fontsource packages: https://fontsource.org/fonts/inter ; https://fontsource.org/fonts/oswald ; https://fontsource.org/fonts/pacifico ; https://fontsource.org/fonts/lobster . Each font's copyright notice and full SIL Open Font Licence text are published alongside the font files.

How to use it

  1. Enter text and choose a bundled font, or drop your own font file.
  2. Set the size, spacing, alignment, fill and stroke, and check the outlines.
  3. Copy or download SVG paths, or export a PNG.

Privacy & limitations

Text and uploaded fonts stay in your browser. Bundled WOFF files load from this site; no external font service is used.

Frequently asked questions

Which fonts are bundled?

Inter and Oswald in regular and bold, plus Pacifico and Lobster in regular. These Latin subsets are redistributed unmodified under SIL OFL 1.1. Each licence is in /fonts/text-to-svg/. Uploaded font licences are your responsibility.

Why can some lettering differ from my design application?

The parser supports only some shaping and positioning tables. Unsupported contextual substitutions fall back to direct character glyphs; a notice identifies the limitation. Some fonts, including Inter, have positioning tables whose kerning pairs may be unavailable. Complex scripts and colour fonts may differ.

Is the SVG editable text?

No. It contains outlines and does not need the original font to display. Blank lines affect baseline spacing, while the viewBox crops to visible ink. PNG output is capped at 4096 pixels on its longest side.
