Shoe Size Converter: Foot Length, EU, UK, US and Mondopoint

Convert foot length in cm or inches to approximate shoe sizes using stated last allowances. Compare Mondopoint, EU, UK, US and JP/CN length equivalents.

Shoe Size Converter: Foot Length, EU, UK, US and Mondopoint: Uses classic length formulas with two size points of last allowance: 13.33 mm for EU and 16.93 mm for UK/US. Children use separate UK and US zero points. It rounds sizes to halves and metric length labels to 5 mm; it does not estimate width or reproduce the ISO children's conversion table. Approximate sizes: brands vary; measure and check the maker's chart.

Between sizes in one or more systems. The table rounds to the nearest half size or 5 mm length; compare both neighbouring sizes with the maker's chart.

For foot length L in mm: EU = 3L/20 + 2; adult UK = 3L/25.4 − 23; US men = UK + 1; US women FIA = UK + 2 (common = UK + 2.5). Mondopoint = L; JP/CN cm = L/10.

Children's common convention: UK = 3L/25.4 − 10; US = 3L/25.4 − 9.75. The child scales stop at 13.5; switch to adult for larger feet.

Assumed last allowance: two size points, 13.33 mm for EU and 16.93 mm for UK/US. Source: Shoe size, Wikipedia, citing ISO/TS 19407. The children's formula is a classic convention, not the ISO children's table. CN normally marks millimetres; the cm result is a length equivalent. Width is not estimated.

DATA_CHECKED 2026-10-04; accessed 2026-10-04. Shoe size cites ISO 9407:2019 and ISO/TS 19407:2023 (earlier 2015). Its length formulas and classic child offsets are the source; the regional scales are labelled common convention. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoe_size

Metric labels and assumptions

The same source cites JIS S 5037:1998 and GB/T 3293.1-1998 for East Asian metric sizing. Only length is modelled. EU uses the Paris point (2/3 cm); UK/US use the barleycorn (1/3 in). The assumed last allowance is two points in the corresponding system. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoe_size

How to use it

  1. Measure both feet while standing and use the longer heel-to-toe length.
  2. Choose adult or children's scales and the source measurement or size.
  3. Compare the nearest sizes, read the allowance and check the maker's chart.

Frequently asked questions

Why do conversions differ between charts?

Different lasts, toe allowances and regional conventions change the result. All sizes are approximate: brands vary; measure and check the maker's chart.

Which US women's scale is used?

Choose FIA (men plus 1) or the common convention (men plus 1.5). These are labelled explicitly.

Does CN use centimetres?

CN normally marks foot length in millimetres. This tool also shows the centimetre length equivalent requested for comparison.

What happens after children's size 13.5?

The tool does not wrap automatically to an adult size. Select the adult scale and enter the measurement again.
