Meme Generator
Make a meme from your own picture: top and bottom text in the classic white letters with a black outline, extra text you can drag anywhere, and a PNG or JPG to download.
Meme Generator: The picture and text are drawn on a canvas in your browser. Captions use Impact, the classic meme typeface, where your device has it, falling back to another heavy sans-serif, in capitals with a thick outline so they read on any background. Each caption shrinks to fit the width of the picture, wrapping onto more lines as needed. There are no stock meme templates: use your own pictures, or ones you have the right to use. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Writing a caption that lands
The classic format sets up a situation in the top line and delivers the twist in the bottom one. Keep each line short: a caption that wraps to three lines shrinks and loses its punch.
To put text on a picture in a quieter style, such as a credit or a logo, use the image watermark tool, and to combine several pictures, the photo collage maker.
Pictures and rights
A meme of your own photo is yours to share. Popular meme pictures are usually stills from films, television, or photos taken by someone else; sharing them for fun is common, but using them in advertising or on products can infringe copyright or a person's image rights.
How to use it
- Choose a picture, or start with a blank white or black canvas.
- Type the top and bottom text; add more text and drag it where you want.
- Download the meme as PNG or JPG.
Privacy & limitations
Your picture never leaves your device; the meme is made in your browser.

Frequently asked questions
What font do memes use?
Impact, a condensed, heavy typeface that ships with Windows and macOS, in white with a black outline. The generator uses it when your device has it, and a similar heavy font otherwise.
Can I use any picture?
Use pictures you took yourself or have permission to use. Stills from films, news photos, and other people's photos are usually protected by copyright, which is why this tool has no built-in template library.
How do I move the text?
Drag any caption on the picture, with a mouse or a finger. Use the text size slider to make the selected caption larger or smaller.
Is there a watermark?
No. The downloaded image is exactly what you see, at up to 1,600 pixels on the long side.
