Online Alarm Clock

Set one or more alarms for a time of day, once or every day, with a label. When one goes off, stop it or snooze for 5 or 10 minutes; it rings and shows a notification while the page is open.

Online Alarm Clock: The page shows the current time and your alarms with how long until each. When an alarm is due it rings with the sound you picked until you stop it, for up to a minute, and shows a notification. Alarms are kept in this browser, so they come back when you reopen the page. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Alerts

In this tab, alarms ring while it is open, also in the background; they are kept in this browser, so reopening the page brings them back. Switch on the option above to get a notification even when the tab is closed.

What a web page alarm can and cannot do

The page itself rings only while it is open, in a background tab too. With reminders with the tab closed switched on, TOEA's server also sends each alarm as a push notification, which arrives while the browser or phone is on even if the tab is not. A notification cannot play the alarm sound, and browsers block sound until you click the page, so keep the tab open when the sound matters.

Alarms are kept in this browser, so they are there when you come back. One that fell due while the page was closed is reported when you reopen it: a daily alarm moves to the next day, and a one-time alarm is switched off.

Time zones and snoozing

Alarms follow your computer's clock and time zone, daylight saving time included, and the time is shown in your language's format. Snooze moves the alarm by 5 or 10 minutes; stopping a daily alarm sets it for the same time tomorrow.

For a length of time rather than a time of day, such as 20 minutes from now, the online timer is quicker, and the lights-on reminder warns you when the room gets too dark to work at the screen, which on grey days comes long before sunset.

How to use it

  1. Choose a time, add a label if you like, and tick Every day for a daily alarm.
  2. Press Set alarm and allow notifications.
  3. Leave the tab open, in the background if you like; stop or snooze when it rings.

Privacy & limitations

Alarms, labels, and your sound choice are kept in this browser's storage. Only if you switch on reminders with the tab closed does the page send TOEA's server this browser's push address and the alarm times, never their labels; each is deleted once sent or cancelled.

Frequently asked questions

Will the alarm go off if I close the tab?

In the tab it rings while the page is open, also in the background. Switch on Also remind me when this tab is closed to get a notification even when it is not; daily alarms are sent for the next seven days. It needs the browser or phone to be on, and on iPhone and iPad TOEA added to the Home Screen. For waking up, the alarm on your phone is still the safest choice.

Which time zone does it use?

Your computer's clock and time zone, including daylight saving time. An alarm for 7:00 rings when your computer's clock shows 7:00.

What happens to an alarm I missed?

If the page was closed when an alarm fell due, the page tells you when you open it again. A daily alarm moves on to the next day; a one-time alarm is switched off.

Why did it ring without sound?

Browsers only allow sound after you have clicked on the page, so set the alarm with a click and do not reload the page before it rings. Also check the sound setting and that the computer is not muted.
